Halloween Celebration

Our Halloween Celebration is Monday!   Wrapped candy and small, wrapped treats may be brought in by the children to put into our treat bags.  Your child may bring a costume to school to change into.  Please keep makeup simple because we will not have time to put it on for each student.  Also, hair sprays or “weapons” may not be brought to school. We will get dressed around 1:30 p.m. followed by some fun activities in the classroom and a treat provided by the room parents.  The parade begins at 2:30 p.m.  Parents are welcome to come join in on the fun!

Weekly Green Folders

Every Tuesday, your child will bring home his/her green folder.  Inside the folder is your child’s graded work along with important notes and handouts.   Please take a moment to look though this folder with your child and celebrate his/her accomplishments.  Keep the graded papers and notes at home and return the folder, signed, on Wednesday.  I find this is an effective method for us to communicate about your child’s progress in fourth grade and keep you informed about important dates, events, etc.

Today’s green folder contains the latest newsletter with important information for both students and parents, including field trip information and test dates.  Also included in the folder is the latest Accelerated Reader printout and your child’s classwork and tests from the past week or so.

As always, please let me know if you have any questions.

Open House

I’m so glad I had a chance to meet so many parents at our Open House last night!  The students were very excited to share their work and classroom with you.  Parents attending were able to pick up the Student Handbook and Fourth Grade Information Packet.   These will be sent home with your child today, if you were not able to attend last night.

Welcome to Mrs. Kirk’s Fourth Grade Class

Welcome students and parents.   We are off to a great start!  The past two weeks students have been learning the routines and procedures of their new classroom. Working together, we also created a list of classroom rules that will provide a wonderful, productive learning environment.

I feel strong communication between parents and a teacher is essential to a student’s success in school.  A Fourth Grade Newsletter will be sent home monthly to keep you informed of what we are learning about as well as other important information such as field trips, etc.  Also, I encourage you to check this website often.  It contains useful information about fourth grade and will be updated as needed.

Please contact me either by email, a phone call, or a note in the assignment book if you have any questions or concerns.  I will do the same.

We have a great year ahead of us.  I look forward to working with you and your child.
